Post-match comments after Russia’s victories over Sweden and Liechtenstein

Russia strengthened their position in second place in Euro 2016 qualifying group G with a 7-0 win over Liechtenstein in Vaduz. Alan Dzagoev scored Russia’s sixth goal.

Both games against Sweden and Liechtenstein were important for us. Every match is like a final now. Sweden was very difficult to play against, but we earned a positive result and prepared for Liechtenstein in a good mood.

We didn’t expect such a devastating defeat in Vaduz. Firstly, the match was not easy, but we opened up the opponent defense, and after dismissal it became much easier.

Austria defeated Sweden. Now we have to win last two games against Montenegro and Moldova. It’s really good when it’s all in your hands and depends only on you.

Our sixth goal? It turned out well. I scored a free kick, looked at our main coach and we laughed. He joked one day before the game that I couldn’t score free kicks. Here, I proved the opposite.

I’m glad with the way I played these two matches, but I’m still improving. I love playing center mid, because you can play defense and offense. You are always being on the ball, creating attacks and play a defensive role as well. That’s what the main coach requires.
